About Yoonhee Lee

Korean-American violinist Yoonhee Lee, influenced by the late Masuko Ushioda, Vera Beths, and the late Anner Bijlsma, enjoys a versatile career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. She has premiered and recorded works by renowned composers like Rebecca Saunders and Sir Harrison Birtwistle and performed worldwide, including at the Berliner Philharmonie and Royal Albert Hall.

Born in Seoul and immigrating to Boston at ten, Lee found music to be her means of communication and refuge. Passionate about innovation and experimentation, she holds degrees from the New England Conservatory and Conservatorium van Amsterdam and resides in Boston with her husband Tom, dog Schatzi, and cat Opus.

About Njord Fossnes

Njord Kårason Fossnes, born in 2001, is a distinguished Norwegian violist and composer currently studying at the New England Conservatory under the guidance of Kim Kashkashian. Fossnes has garnered numerous accolades, including prizes from the Midgard Competition and the Virtuoso & BelCanto International Competition. He was also the youngest participant at the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 2018 and won second prize at the inaugural Hindemith International Viola Competition in 2021. Notable performances include solo appearances with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Oslo Philharmonic.

An avid composer, his piece Etyde was performed by the Oslo Philharmonic in 2018. Fossnes continues to make his mark in the classical music world with his exceptional talent and dedication​.

About Sonja Tengblad

Sonja DuToit Tengblad is a soprano celebrated for her “radiant” artistry, as described by Opera Magazine. With a voice that resonates with emotional depth and clarity, Sonja has graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and performed with leading ensembles such as the Boston Philharmonic, Boston Baroque, and the Handel and Haydn Society. Her performances in works ranging from Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 to Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915 demonstrate her remarkable versatility and passion for both historical and contemporary music.

A visionary both on and off the stage, Sonja is a passionate advocate for new music and social change. She co-founded the innovative soprano/percussion duo Beat Song and leads Beyond Artists, a coalition that dedicates concert fees to causes she cares deeply about. As an educator at Wellesley College, she inspires the next generation of musicians while actively engaging in climate-focused projects and community initiatives. Sonja’s work is a powerful testament to the transformative impact of music and her unwavering dedication to making a difference through her art.

Most of our performances take place at Sanders Theatre (45 Quincy Street, Room 027, Cambridge, MA 02138). Sanders Theatre is managed by Memorial Hall/Lowell Hall Complex at Harvard University.
